Arduino Mega Shield and Arduino Uno footprint

Hello,

the Arduino Uno footprint doesn't seem to fit the pin header markers on the Arduino Mega shield PCB too well. Whereever I put it, one header is always off by at least 1/2 pin width. Will this be a problem or should I just ignore it?

Best regards,

Joerg

Sorry for bringing this up again, but today I found that if I change an Arduino Shield PCB to an Adrduino Pro PCB, not only the the headers are slightly off, the mounting holes and the ISCP header are totally off. I don't have a Pro myself, but looking at

http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoBoardMega2560

I would the they should all be in the same location for the ordinary and Pro Arduino.

Looks to me like the pro PCB shape is wrong, or am I missing something here?

Best regards,

Joerg

(Sorry for the typos. I was in a hurry. Should have proofread once more.)

Hi Joerg,
They do match, it's just a bit confusing. :) The R3 versions have two more pins on the left (both top and bottom), and our Mega currently is the older version where the pins are missing. So nothing to worry about, but I'll add the Mega R3 to our todo-list.

I'm not sure what you mean by Arduino Pro - do you mean the Arduino Pro Mini, or do you also mean the Mega? If you mean the Mega, you probably refer to the dark green markings, right? And there I think you're right that they are off for some of the holes, probably also due to the R3 revision. We'll also update that, but it's also nothing to worry about.

Hi Andre,

yes, I meant the Mega (as I wrote - I was in a hurry, but that's a bad excuse for creating unnecessary confusion). And you're right: There are pin differences between the boards. Still the common headers do not match 100%, but maybe that is not a problem in real life due to the scale (it looks more dangerous on the screen). But the ISCP and mount markers are definitely off by a cm or so. If someone has the factory drill holes here, he or she will be surprised by the result.

I would assume it's possible to derive the PCB layout from the official Arduino eagle files in order to have them as exact as possible.

Best regards,

Joerg

Thanks for clarifying. We'll update the design, I think the current one is reflecting an older Mega design.
