Why no gradients?
Hey, I'm making a zener diode, which unlike rectifier diodes is encased in glass. Anyway, the core of it is metallic orange, and I really want to use a gradient fill for it. On the providing parts page, though, it says "Do not use any effects such as gradients and other bitmap effects." Why not if it looks the best? It's not a bitmap, just a fill. Without using a gradient it looks weird.

Gradients in SVGs would make for a whole lot of extra work dealing with export and internal programmatic part manipulations.
