Convert Bendpoint<->Via?
Hi,
I often draw too long lines, and to redraw them is irritating. With Bendpoint<->Via, I could split lines easily!
(On the other hand - I never understood the difference between Via and Hole...
Since using the popup-menu you can make the Via to appear as hole and the hole to be set as via. Confusing...
A better solution would be to have only relevant stuff in popup and enable
Via<->Hole<->Bendpoint...)
Vias are connectors, they are normally used as a way to route a trace from one side of the board to the other, often to avoid some obstacle in routing. Vias will always have a copper ring. Holes are just holes--they do not have a copper ring and they are not meant for drawing traces.
The suggestion to swap between bendpoints and vias is a good one, though I would leave holes out of it.

If you create a Hole/Via, you will IN THE POPUP MENU be able to select the same alternativs for a hole as for a Via. I understand theat a hole does not have connectors... but if I create a Via I can specify "a Standard Through-hole" in the popup. So the Via effectively looks like a hole.
And vice versa, if I add a Hole and specify a Hole diameter 0 and in the popup a something Via, the part that I have does behave as a hole but definitely LOOKS like a via...
So I think, you should clean stuff up (the popup menu) and possibility to specify a hole diameter for a Via... In PCB-mode the standard Via seems to have a hole?!
The menus will change in the next release.
Note that you cannot have a via without a hole as there is no way to move electrons from one layer to another without a (plated) hole through the board.
You can use the inspector to specify both the ring-size and the hole-diameter for either holes or vias. You can select from a menu of options or type in your measurements directly.

There is no problem to have a via without a hole - when you are using (as me) single-sided PCBs.
Vias are practical to "divide" long lines to not be forced to redraw the whole length. Thats what I use them for.
Perhaps in future release you could change the visual appearence/color of Hole to distingquish it from Vias?

Bendpoint to Via will be available in 0.7.5, though not the reverse.
