Fritzing and Windows 7
I downloaded the release 2009.12.23 but I cannot execute in windows 7. I tried to change the properties (compatibility with XP service pack 2 and 3) but the program does not start.
Can someone suggest how to solve this issue?

Hi Ettore,
Are you getting any kind of error message? Does the program make any progress at all? for example, are you seeing the splash screen? Were you able to run previous versions?
Sometimes it helps to download the software a second time and try again.

1) version 2009.12.23: Windows 7 just says: Fritzing.exe has stopped working.....
The program never start.
2) version 2009.12.11: The program start, but says the properties of components cannot be changed.
On windows XP version 2009.12.23 seems ok.

2009.12.23 on Win 7. It says: Fritzing.exe is not a valid win32 application
We're running Fritzing on two different win 7 machines, so beyond trying to download again, and making sure you have whatever is the win 7 equivalent of administrator privileges, I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Another attemp on Win 7. I tweaked my registry to enable the "run as Administrator" features when I launch any file including zip format.
This time I noticed that the zip file is not uncompressed correctly. 7Zip gives a lot of errors. The first error is "Data error in'lib\sqldrivers\qsqlite4.dll'. File is broken" and followed by a longlist of "unsupported compression method...".
Perhaps the way it being compressed is somehow not supported by Win 7?

I'm also on Windows 7 and don't have any problems. The zip file should be fine, so I assume your downloads are keeping to break. Try maybe downloading again. through a different browser?

Thanks for keeping at it. But Fritzing was built and compressed on a Win 7 laptop. I just tried downloading and decompressing again and it seemed to be ok... Sorry, not sure what else to suggest...

I don't remember how many times I've downloaded the installer. My nbook is dual booted: Win 7 and ubuntu karmic. Just now I logged in into Ubuntu, downloaded the Win installer zip file and try to extract it using 7Zip and still got the same errors. And this strange thing happened also to the linux version. It just cannot run on ubuntu.
Perhaps you guys are right. There must be something wrong with the downloading process.. I live in malaysia. Is there any suggestion for me to download the installer in a more promising way?

I just downloaded and installed 7zip on a win7 machine and extracted the fritzing download with no problem. So for me the download file seems to be extracting correctly using either windows 7's built-in unzipping or with 7zip (4.65).
If you have an FTP drop someplace, I will drop the 12.23 release there. Send email to info (at) fritzing (dot) org with a drop url.
