A digital joystick for the Apple II. It was originally available in the eighties but can be replicated with modern arcade parts.

The Ideal joystick includes two potentiometers for  centering the position and 6 micro-switches, two for firing, 4 for each direction. A commercial arcade joystick can be adapted based on the diagram to make it compatible with an Apple II that would usually require an expensive and hard to find analog joystick.
