Fritzing

Keyboard & Mouse actions in Fritzing provide full control and quicker workflow possiblities.

The most basic actions are:

• Mouse-clicking on a part
  selects the part
• Selecting+dragging a part in the Part Library to the Project View
  lets you use the part in your project
• Selecting+dragging a part in the Project View
  moves the part
• Selecting+dragging a part's connector/pin, then releasing the mouse on a second connector
  creates a wire which goes out of the first connector, and by release connects to the second connector
  (notice that connection points are green when connected and red when not connected)

 

Additional editing options are:

• Dragging or double clicking a wire
  adds a bend point
• Double clicking on a bend point
  deletes the bend point
• ALT+dragging a bend point (in Schematic and PCB Views only)
  creates a new wire coming out of the bend point
• ALT+dragging a wire segment
  moves the wire segment without creating a bend point
• ALT+SHIFT+dragging a wire segment
  constrains the wire to 45 degrees
• SHIFT+dragging a part
  constrains movement to vertical or horizontal
• SPACE+dragging
  moves the art board
• Scroll Wheel
  moves the art board
• Right clicking on a part or wire
  opens the right click menu
• CONTROL+clicking a part (mac: command key)
  selects the part without releasing previously selected parts

 

 

Right-clicking on parts shows the following menu:

 

 

 

• Rotate...
  rotates the selected parts 90/180 degrees (counter) clockwise
• Flip...
  flips the selected parts horizontally or vertically
• Raise and Lower
  Bring to Front: brings the selected parts to the front of their layers
  Bring Forward: brings the selected parts forward in their layers
  Send Backwards: sends the selected parts backwards in their layers
  Send to Back:  sends the selected parts to the back of their layers
• Copy
  copies selected parts to the clipboard
• Duplicate
  copies and pastes selected parts
• Delete
  deletes selected parts
• Edit
  opens a selected part in the Part Editor
• Add to bin
  adds the selected parts to the current bin
• Show part label
  shows or hides the label for the selected part

 

 

Right-clicking on wires shows the following menu:

 

 

• Raise and Lower
  Bring to Front: brings the selected parts to the front of their layers
  Bring Forward: brings the selected parts forward in their layers
  Send Backwards: sends the selected parts backwards in their layers
  Send to Back:  sends the selected parts to the back of their layers
• Wire Color - (only in Breadboard View)
  changes the selected wire's color
• Create Trace from Selected Wires(s) - (only in Schematic & PCB Views)
  routes a selected rat's nest wire
• Create Jumper from Selected Wires(s) - (only in PCB View)
  creates a jumper for the selected rat's nest wire
• Delete
  deletes selected parts
• Add Bendpoint
  adds a bend point to the selected wire
